SUMMARY:Cycle the Savage: a Family Biking Adventure
DESCRIPTION:The 'Cycle the Savage' presented by Weimer Automotive is NOT a race and all riders are encouraged to ride at their own pace and to stop and rest as much as you want. Even though the start of the ride will be at 10:00 am it is not a hard start. You can leisurely make your way to the start area but the event will only be supported until 2:00 pm.\n\n\n\nCycle the Savage is also wheelchair accessible. You are welcome to pick your own distance and course. \n\n\n\nThe epicenter of the  annual 'Cycle the Savage' presented by Weimer Automotive is the Celebration Village located at the Start/Finish. Relax in the giant pavilion before\, during and after the event. Enjoy complimentary snacks and water. A picnic lunch will also be provided included with registration. \n\n\n\nEvery rider will receive a commemorative bib number and a specially designed string bag with our 'Cycle the Savage' presented by Weimer Automotive event logo.\n\n\n\nThis event benefits the Frances Ann Shaw Memorial Scholarship and the David H. Shaw Memorial Scholarship. \n\n\n\nNew for 2026!\n\nNew additional courses\, new date\, and new picnic lunch! Food\, soda\, and water provided and you may bring your own alcoholic beverages. \n\n\n\nThe 20-mile course will remain the same from last year. For more experienced riders looking for a challenge and to appreciate the true mountain experience that Garrett County has to offer\, we are adding distance and climbing to our second annual event! There is a course for everyone!\n\n\n\nA new 30 mile ride and a 40 mile ride are being added. Both have moderate climbing.

LOCATION:Big Run State Park 10368 Savage River Rd Swanton\, MD 21561 The Savage River Loop is 8 miles around with small rolling hills and is almost completely under canopy. The Big Run loop is flat and fast as it winds its way through the best foliage and rugged sights that Garrett County\, MD has to offer for a total of 8 miles. The Dam Loop is a short 4-mile hilly route that oversees the famous Savage River Dam.
