SUMMARY:Ed King Memorial Pavilion dedication
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the official opening of our new pavilion dedicated to Ed King. A member of the Club since 1986\, Ed exemplified the virtues of kindness\, decency and service to others. He served two terms as Club President from 1990-1991 and 2006-2008 as well as filling nearly every other officer position and heading up numerous committees during his 35-plus years as a Lion. Ed was inducted as a Melvin Jones Fellow\, the highest award in Lionism which recognizes superlative levels of service to others\, in 2005. \n\nHe was integrally involved in all major service programs that the Club conducted\, especially the Blind Skier and Blind Camper programs. Serving as the Chair for critical fundraisers like Casino Nights\, and the Cardboard Box Derby\, Ed was essential to the financial solvency of the Club\, and was the initial driving force for the Club's current primary fundraiser\, the annual Boat Auction.\n\nScores of visually impaired kids fondly remember Ed not just as a ski guide during the Blind Skier program\, or as a boat driver for the Blind Camper program\, but most likely for his rousing rendition of the camp song "Dunderback" which became the traditional closing of meals that the Club had with visually impaired guests and their families. Ed's ethos of service to others\, good-naturedness and perpetual youthful spirit continue to serve as the standard for a life well lived. \n\nOften referred to as " the mayor of Deep Creek Lake " Ed also had a deep love of the area and was active in many other organizations as well.\n\nWe're expecting that our new 40x70 ft Pavilion will facilitate many new community events.\n\nWe'll have a short dedication program\, and then we'll roll right into our regular Lions Club donner meeting which everyone is welcome to attend. There will be complimentary refreshments and we'd be happy to host you for dinner.\n\nMcHenry Community Park\n\n1249 Bumble Bee Rd Accident MD
