SUMMARY:Elenor Roosevelt at the Oakland B&O Station
DESCRIPTION:The Oakland B&O Museum presents Eleanor Roosevelt at the Oakland B&O Station\, a performance by Christy Beckman and Liz Gilbert. Christy will portray Eleanor Roosevelt speaking at the Oakland B&O Station in 1942 before she leaves for Arthurdale\, WV. Liz will play a fictitious character\, Sue Ann Lambert\, also at the station traveling from St. Louis to Washington D. C. \n\n\n\nChristy is a 7th grader at Swan Meadow School and this will be her first public performance of a historic monologue. Her love of books and volunteering at Our Town Theatre's Costume Shop inspired her portrayal of Martha Washington for a class project this year. When Liz Gilbert\, her teacher\, was approached by representatives of the Oakland B&O Museum to have a student portray Eleanor Roosevelt at the station\, Christy was an obvious choice. Eleanor Roosevelt made many visits to Arthurdale\, WV\, the site of a New Deal Community she helped establish.
