SUMMARY:Family Day at the Village
DESCRIPTION:Spruce Forest Artisan Village at Penn Alps in Grantsville invites everyone for crafts and games\, music and mountain heritage at their third annual Famlly Day at the Village on Saturday\, June 20\; 10:00 until 4:00 PM. The Village artisans will of course be there to demonstrate their traditional and modern crafts. The original\, restored structures including the Yoder House\; Hostetler House\, Miller House\, Compton School\; and Stanton's Mill\, the oldest operating mill in Western Maryland. These and the nationally known Casselman Bridge illustrate 19th and 18th century life in the region. Games\, crafts and activities will help children explore local history and our natural heritage\, including Native Americans\, native plants and animals\, and Pennsylvania German culture. Spruce Forest Village will be joined by Springs Historical Society\, Meyersdale Area Historical Society\, the Meyersdale Public Library and the Garrett County Master Gardeners in presenting displays and activities. Musical performances include FSU's award winning Greg Latta on the hammer dulcimer at 11:00\, and the Mountain Anthem Youth Choir at 1:00. The day's activities are free and open to the public\, and everyone is invited to enjoy a Saturday in this lovely setting along the National Pike by Penn Alps in Grantsville.
