SUMMARY:?Rachel’s Challenge – A Community Event
DESCRIPTION:Garrett County Public Schools is sponsoring a community event entitled Rachel's Challenge. This will be the second year that Rachel's Challenge events have been scheduled at Garrett County schools\, and the program will be continued at the high schools and also added to the middle schools\, which will include 5th grader students.\n\n \n\nRachel Joy Scott was the first victim in the Columbine High School massacre. While her life was tragically cut short during the shooting on April 20\, 1999\, her shining example of kindness and compassion was not defeated that day. Come hear the inspiring true story of one girl's dream being fulfilled over a decade after her death. The presentation is a powerful reminder of the little things we can do every day to make our world a better place. Come hear "The Story That Changes Everything".\n\n \n\nOn Monday\, September 12\, 2016\, the Rachel's Challenge program will be introduced at assemblies for students in both middle schools in the morning. Students in grades 7 and 8 will participate in "Rachel's Challenge"\, while 5th and 6th grade students will participate in "Rachel's Story". In the afternoon\, Friends of Rachel's (FOR) Clubs will be discussed with students at the middle schools. The high schools will have a similar schedule for students during the day on Tuesday\, September 13th.\n\n \n\nThe community is invited to attend an hour long Rachel's Challenge presentation in the evening of Monday\, September 12th\, beginning at 6:30 PM. The presentation will be held in the cafeterias of both Northern and Southern Middle Schools\, where representatives of Rachel's Challenge will be on hand to introduce the program. The community is invited and encouraged to come together\, at either middle school\, to be a part of the Rachel's Challenge community. Come hear the inspiring true story about one girl's dream to change the world - "The "Story" that Changes Everything!"
