he Mountain Top College Expo, sponsored by Garrett County Public Schools and Garrett College, will be held on Monday, October 12, in the gymnasium on the college?s McHenry campus. Attendees can visit with college representatives from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and students of all ages are encouraged to attend. Home school and private school students are also welcome, according to Rachelle Davis, Director of Enrollment at Garrett College and one of the Expo Coordinators. The program begins at 6 p.m. with a financial aid presentation, also in the gymnasium complex. Garrett College financial aid staff will be on hand to answer questions about federal, state, and local scholarships and aid programs, including the Garrett County Scholarship Program. A scholarship booklet with information on nearly 100 other scholarship opportunities will be available. Students who attend the College Expo will also be eligible to register for scholarship prizes. One senior from Northern Garrett High School and one from Southern Garrett High will be selected to receive a $500 scholarship, which can be used at any college or university. Second place winners from each school will be awarded a $250 scholarship. The Garrett College Foundation will also award two book scholarships.
