Guest Studio Artist Rebecca McClive

As a part of the Oakland Studio Tour, Rebecca McClive will be presenting a selection of works at Smoke N Mirrors Photography on Saturday and Sunday.

Born in Rhode Island, but raised on a small farm in rural western Maryland, Rebecca McClive developed a lifelong fascination with the land and the animals that inhabit it.  This facination has greatly influenced her personally, academically, and most importantly, artistically.
After successfully raising her own two daughters, Rebecca decided to chase her dream and relocate out west.  In 2003, she moved to Northern Colorado.  There she found the power and perfection of the landscape and animals intriguing, and strives to express those qualities in her art.  There is a physical, emotional and spiritual value that connects her to the land and the life it nurtures. 
After spending nine years in Colorado, Rebecca moved back to rural Maryland to be closer to her family, especially after the death of her father in 2012.  He had been a big influence on her, as he too was an artist.
Rebecca McClive paints in a style that is realistic with a touch of impressionism.  Largely self-taught, she has participated in numerous workshops with both landscape and wildlife artists including; master landscape.   painter Scott Christensen, and nationally known wildlife artists John Seerey-Lester, John Banovich, Terry Isaac, and Greg Beecham.  She also had the opportunity to participate in a six month mentoring program with master landscape artist Jay Moore.  Her formal education includes an Associates Degree in Wildlife Management.
She has participated in many art shows, including The Western Masters Art Show, in Great Falls, MT,  The Southeastern Wildlife Expo, in Charleston, SC, and the Phippen Art Show and Sale in Prescott, AZ to name a few.
 Rebecca is a signature member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society and an associate member of Oil Painters of America and American Women Artist.
