2017 SUMMER SPEAKER SERIES
The Oakland B&O Museum presents its third event of the summer season with John Garner, CEO of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. It will take place at the 1884 Oakland B&O Station Museum on Thursday August 17 at 7:00 pm. This is open to the public and there is no admission fee. Doors open at 6:30 to tour the museum.
Garner has been an active part of the railroading industry since 1987. Throughout his 30 years of railroad experience, he has been both an owner/operator, a Vice President of Operations, and, most recently, Chief Executive Officer at Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. He began his career at WMSR as a volunteer in 2013, became the Safety and Compliance Officer in 2015, and was promoted to CEO in February 2016. While at WMSR, his most important objectives include promoting and preserving the heritage and history of both the Western Maryland Railway and Western Maryland Scenic Railroad itself.
