The Continuing Education and Workforce Development division of Garrett College will offer a two session Acrylic Painting class at the Southern Outreach Center in Oakland on Monday evenings, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on November 17th and 24th. This class is designed for those with previous experience in painting with acrylics. Participants will explore the painting process and experiment with color and design while creating a seasonal landscape that presents higher levels of artistic challenge. The instructor suggests a minimum age of 12 years. It is recommended to bring a smock or old shirt to protect clothing from acrylic stains and brushes of several sizes. Paint, canvas and easel will be provided. This class is instructed by Sharon Elsey, a self-taught artist, who dabbles in creative art styles, landscape, & adventure type paintings. Her artwork is on display in the Garrett County Art Gallery in Oakland, Blue Moon Rising, Moon Shadow Café, and Grand Central Station. She also participates in the summer Artist Studio Tours.
