Come to the Oakland library to discuss Bloodsworth: The True Story of the First Death Row Inmate Exonerated by DNA Evidence. In the 1990s, prisoner Kirk Bloodsworth learned of a new technology, DNA fingerprinting, and realized it was a chance to prove his innocence. The book describes a criminal justice milestone in Maryland that would eventually lead to the exoneration of hundreds of people wrongfully accused of violent crimes.
Patrons who sign up to join the discussion can pick up their free copy of the book at the Oakland or Accident library.
Bloodsworth is this year's One Maryland One Book selection. OMOB is a program designed to bring diverse groups of Marylanders together in library, school, or community settings to share a common reading experience.
