Unfortunately, Garrett County is not immune to the nationwide workforce shortage issues. Businesses across America are putting up “Help Wanted” signs and other advertisements seeking workers. But in many cases, the jobs go unfilled even as the economy improves. The lack of workers is hurting businesses’ ability to keep up with demand for their products and services. Businesses of all sizes are struggling with hiring. On top of that there is the lack of affordable workforce housing.
Join your fellow Chamber members in a “business listening session”. Garrett County Department of Business Development, Garrett College and Western Maryland Consortium will each provide a brief description of the resources they have available to businesses, followed by open discussion. This will be an opportunity for businesses to come together to support one another.
The event will be held on September 20th at 9:00 am in the downstairs at Ace’s Run. Refreshments will be provided. Please register for the event here.
