February Business After Hours 2020

The Chamber is pleased to announce that Garrett Mentors will be hosting our February Business After Hours on Thursday, February 13th from 5:30 pm- 7:30 pm at Dutch's at Silver Tree.

Garrett Mentors is a non-profit children's mentoring organization serving Garrett County. Garrett Mentors is committed to providing the Pre-kindergarten through grade five children in the Garrett County Public Schools with caring, committed, adult mentors. Their volunteer mentors are adults of all ages who serve as positive role models to children with various needs and backgrounds. To help with the elementary-to-middle school transition, some mentors may continue meeting with their mentee in sixth grade at the middle school as well. Mentors meet with the child they are matched with once a week during the child’s lunchtime at the child’s school. Garrett Mentors also provides our children and their mentors with several out-of-school bonding events and experiences throughout the year as well as customized resources for the children as needed. In March 2013, Garrett Mentors was presented with the Golden Apple Award for Garrett County by the Comptroller of Maryland for superior volunteer work in Maryland public schools. In recent years we established The Admiral Richard B. Schiff scholarship fund at Garrett College in the honor and memory of a former President Rick Schiff.
