Join the Garrett County Public Schools as they sponsor a fun-filled weekend at their annual Student Arts Fair on Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14, at Garrett College in McHenry. This year’s theme is “Garrett County: Art for All Seasons.”
The festivities begin Friday evening with the reception for the Senior High Art show at 6:30 P.M. in the Bausch and Lomb Gallery. The performing arts extravaganza begins at 7:00 P.M. with a performance by the Senior High Honor Chorus, followed by a performance by the Senior High Honor Band will end the evening.
On Saturday the doors open at 10:00 A. M. The first performing stage act will be the Elementary Honor Band at 10:30 A.M., followed by the Middle School Honor Band at 11:15 A.M. At 12:45 P.M. the Elementary Honor Chorus will perform, followed by the Middle School Honor Chorus at 1:30 P.M. The afternoon will end with a Northern High School music ensemble at 2:15.
Art activities in the gym begin at 11:00 A.M. Teacher-led workshops include scratch art ornaments, art foam snowmen, spin art flowers, tie-dye leaves, leaf rubbing and clay suns. Other activities include face painting, beading, and button making. This year’s fair will include a special multimedia presentation: “Life of the Landscape through Science and Art,” by Dr. Andrew Elmore, Environmental Education Coordinator, Appalachian Laboratory, Frostburg State University.
Refreshments by Northern Music Boosters will be available for purchase.
Finally, on both Friday and Saturday evening, the Southern High Theater Department will be presenting the musical Sweeney Todd at Southern High starting at 8:00 P.M. both evenings. Admission is $5.00
The Student Arts Fair is sponsored by the Garrett County Public Schools, the Garrett County Arts Council, and the Oakland Branch of Susquehanna Bank.
