While Maryland’s unemployment rate has been low, there are still far too many highly qualified workers in the state who are unemployed and struggling to support their families. Recent layoffs, such as the one at the Volvo Powertrain/Group Truck plant in Hagerstown, have only exacerbated this problem and resulted in a large number of high-skilled workers being left without employment and eager to find a new job.
With that in mind, Congressman John K. Delaney will be hosting a Job Fair on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 from 1:30pm – 4:30pm at Kaplan University in Hagerstown. We are anticipating a large number of prospective employees from across the state to be in attendance and we would greatly appreciate if a representative from your organization could also be present. There is no cost to participate in this event and it will be an exceptional opportunity for you to meet with talented and high-skilled Marylanders who are currently seeking employment.
Around the globe the healthiest economies are those where the public and private sector work together. Our office understands the need for a vibrant private sector to create long-term job growth and a strong middle class. We hope you will help us with this endeavor.
If you are interested in having a representative from your organization at the event, please contact Joseph Montano at 301-733-2900 or Joseph.Montano@mail.house.gov to reserve a spot. The deadline for registration for employers will be Wednesday, January 13th, so RSVP as soon as possible.
