Porch Swings & Fireflies tells the story of a journey of loss, courage and healing.

After 20 years of the life she had always dreamed of, with one phone call, the lives of her family shattered. They suffered many kinds of devastating loss. Their lives became  unbearable and her family went into survival mode. The unexpected happened and in that moment all was changed. Nothing in their lives was ever the same again. There was financial loss, public humiliation, health issues resulting from extreme stress, loss of career, ruination of reputation, and loss of hope. While still in the midst of finding a new normal, her  husband died. She raged at God and begged Him to let her die, too.

Nothing in her life had ever prepared her for such loss and devastation. After walking in the darkness for a long time, she finally began to see light. She had choices to make. Would she choose to see what she had lost or focus on what blessings remained? Would she have great expectations for the future, or believe that all she could be was what had already happened to her? Would she choose to live, really LIVE, or settle into a mundane existence simply surviving each day? She made a decision. She chose to  embrace the blessings in her life and to cherish those dear to her heart. She chose to value life even more. She chose to believe there are endless possibilities for her life. She chose to not allow the pain in her past to define her.

As an author and inspirational speaker, my purpose and heartfelt desire is for you to find hope. I want you to believe you can move beyond the pain of loss.
