Join us after hours on Thursday, July 14th in an intimate, invite-only setting for a preview of four new classic German Rieslings at our Deep Creek Market! Over the course of two hours, we hope to change your perspective on Riesling: one of our favorite grapes, but also one that's frequently typecast in the United States. In this guided tasting, we'll convince you that despite a reputation for wines that are either cloyingly viscous and sweet or bone dry, overly severe, and austere, Riesling, when well made, can result in magical wines at almost any sugar level. By providing four cheese pairings, one for each wine, we also hope to convince you that Riesling is one of the ultimate wines for pairing with food.
This themed pairing will be co-hosted by Paul Roberts, co-founder of Deep Creek Cellars and Western Maryland Consultant for Artisans & Vines and Pablo Solanet, co-founder and Artistic Director of FireFly Farms. We'll also have a guest appearance from Jesse Galdston, who manages the wine selection at our market in Baltimore.
At this evening's event ($25/person, 5-7 pm on July 14th) we'll pair four different German Rieslings with our cheeses:
You'll learn the wide variety of Riesling styles, how to identify Rieslings you'll love, wine pairing strategies, and how wine can elevate cheese (and vice-versa). You'll also have the opportunity to provide input that we'll use to better craft our future pairings. You'll receive special access to discounted pricing before these wines hit the shelf. And of course, you'll enjoy a fantastic evening of wine, cheese, good company, and delicious food.
