Garrett College will take part in a nationwide effort to honor American service men and women who died in Iraq and Afghanistan during the past decade by holding a Remembrance Day National Roll Call. During this commemoration, campus and community volunteers from many colleges and universities across the nation will read the names of the 6,900-plus casualties of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OEF), now called Operation New Dawn. The names of our fallen from the 1st Gulf War will also be read this year. At 2 p.m. eastern standard time, all colleges involved in the National Roll Call will participate in a nationwide simultaneous “minute of silence”. At Garrett College this will be followed by Cecil Glotfelty playing ‘Amazing Grace’ on bagpipes. Closing ceremony will be at 4:30 p.m. with a 21-gun salute and the playing of Taps by the Honor Guard of VFW Post 10077.
