We are running snowshoeing tours this first week in April and next weekend!
Amazing snow depths in the Cranesville, MD and Swallow Falls area has left us with a SOLID base of 12-18 inches on the north facing slopes. Don't let what you see out your door deceive you, where we go the conditions are perhaps the best of the year! There's even more flurries coming Tuesday.
Cold nights and some cold days with no real drastic thaw in the forecast. Weekend forecast looks superb.
Don't worry about the Wisp closing, this backcountry tour is world class and we guarantee it! Old growth forest, giant boulders, peaceful serenity, bear tracks and more!
Our 12th year of offering exciting snowshoeing tours for families, couples, individuals and groups. Explore and discover Swallow Falls State Park and a special back country area that is seldom seen. You will see frozen waterfalls (including Maryland's highest at 53'), old growth forests, animal tracks, and a visit to the bear denning area (don't worry, they'll be sleeping). Awesome photo opportunities and fun. Great for almost any age. This is a medium physical effort activity. The group packs a trail and you can follow along and barely sink at all no matter how deep the snow. During the tour we will stop for hot coco and some comraderie with your fellow explorers. Our website has a video and some comments from guests for you to review. Custom tours on other days may be scheduled.
