Join the Garrett County Public Schools as they sponsor a fun-filled weekend at their annual Student Arts Fair on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21, at Garrett College in McHenry. This year’s theme is “Around the World in Fifteen Schools.”

The festivities begin Friday evening with the reception for the Senior High Art show at 6:30 P.M. in the Bausch and Lomb Gallery. The performing arts extravaganza begins at 7:00 P.M. with a performance by the Senior High Honor Chorus, followed by drama performances from both Northern and Southern High Schools. A performance by the Senior High Honor Band will end the evening.
On Saturday the doors open at 10:00 A. M. The first performing stage act will be the Elementary Honor Band at 10:30 A.M., followed by the Middle School Honor Band at 11:15 A.M. Southern Middle School’s drama students will be performing at 12:00 P.M. At 12:45 P.M. The Elementary Honor Chorus will perform at 12:45 P.M., followed by the Middle School Honor Chorus at 1:30 P.M.
Art activities in the gym begin at 11:00 A.M. Teacher-led workshops include God’s eyes, Egyptian hieroglyphics, German paper cutting, and clay projects.. Other activities include pottery demonstrations, face painting, beading, and button making. This year’s fair will include a special Cultural Excursion at 12 noon, featuring games, recipes, crafts, and fun facts.
