The Sugarfoot Stompers play traditional New Orleans Jazz. Steve Vertigen, trombone, earned a master's degree in jazz performance from San Diego State University. He and his wife own an organic farm in nearby Preston County. Moe Torrentine, trumpet, conducts the Garrett Community Band and once played in Cuba for Fidel Castro. Gino Mauricci, clarinet, played with Winton Marsalis, but not in Cuba. He is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music. Matt Eary, double bass, Stephan Moylan, banjo, and Fred Jacoby, washboard, form the rhythm rock of the band. Stephan and Steve also sing. Everyone in the band lives in the greater Moonshadow area.
