James Porterfield, director of the Center for Railway Tourism at Davis & Elkins College will be presenting "The Making of a Railroad Tourist" including discussion on railway heritage such as rail dining, rail art, and fiction. Dinner options will be recreated by the chefs of Cornish Manor based on recipes used during the heyday of the B&O dining cars.
A columnist, featured writer and contributing editor for Railfan &Railroad magazine, Porterfield has regularly contributed to other journals, authored six books including Dining by Rail: The History and the Recipes from America's Golden Age of Railroad Cuisine and co-founded of the Center for Railway Tourism at Davis & Elkins College.
